[Since his dismissal from the library, Wilhelm had thought he'd have enough time to start and truly gain more ground in discovering the secrets of the town. As it stood, however, what he had assumed would give him a head start in the race hadn't evolved past the slow walk he had apparently always been going. He almost wish he had a job back, in that it would at least give him something to do rather then apparently fruitlessly try and search for answers.

Especially when he felt he finally knew one of the answers, but that it was one he should've stumbled on a long time ago.

Regardless, with nothing to do he had grown bored, and decided that he would venture outside to see if he could find something to keep him interested. To survey the current domain he inhabited, as it were. After all, portions of his authority had been returned to him.]

Got two choices on how most of you can interact with Wilhelm today Mayfield

A. Hope you Like Telepathy

[Wilhelm can be found around several places in town today. In the park, at a restaurant or outside some of the business, or occasionally browsing through the library. Really, he just seems to be an unassuming gentleman going about his day.

But eventually, you'll hear a voice. And it doesn't seem to be a spoken one. Rather, it's like a feeling, something being broadcast within you.]

~Can you hear me?~

[Will you answer?]

B. Phone

After my months of imprisonment here along with you, I've come to a train of thought I'm sure that many of the rest of you have had as well. To me, while not the only answer it seems to be the most logical one for a variety of reasons I'll spare listing at the moment. But, what I have to say, I suppose, is a riddle of sorts. And I'd like to know your responses.

What would be your reaction if you were to find that the face you were born with was not solely your own?

C. Locked to Theta

[Hey Theta, guess who's heard you've been reset and is currently knocking on your door.]

A

[Garviel is probably the gentleman serving Wilhelm in said restaurant. And then wilhelm uses blatant psychic abilities on him. And his expression turns very, very grim.]

"I can hear you." [his voice is cold, and his hands flex on the plate of food he was carrying.]

[Wilhelm will simply look at Garviel, expression blank. The idea of actually being invasive hadn't occurred to him, since psychic connection between him and every human in his world was simply his nature.]

I had no intent of making you uncomfortable.

"That is a -very- invasive thing you just did. Please speak with your actual voice..."

[his second heart stops pumping for a moment, the glanded, inherent aggression of the space marine settling down slightly.]

Oh?

But what if that was my actual voice?

"It clearly is not, the point is moot. And if it was, I would recommend getting a voxcoder. Uncontrolled psychic activity where I am from is subject to extreme sanction."

[Wilhelm just smiles.]

You have a very small definition of what a voice is, then. Though most humans.

It is very much controlled.

Acceptable.

[And Wilhelm will begin to slowly, and neatly eat once his food is put down, speaking whenever his mouth isn't full. Eating, even after eight months, is a bizarre experience for him, but one he's also come to cherish.

The little beauties of mortality, he supposed.]

Your culture has quite a bit of fear of psychics, then?

From: [identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com
"They are open beacons to the warp, which means that daemons can reach through and touch reality. I fear nothing. But I am cautious about psychics, and I can not trust them, because of the danger they inherently pose to the people here. Unless they are sanctioned and controlled, and I have not seen you demonstrate that particular discipline yet."

[he frowns, realizing this is an insulting thing to say, but lets it stand. Sometimes a little bluntness works wonders.]

Ah. There is always an inherent danger with it, but there is an inherent danger in many thing.

Tell me. What sets apart those who are sanctioned and controlled, and those who are dangerous, apart from those in power telling you they are such?

[No hostility. Just curiosity.]

"Their systems of control. No trained psyker from my world would ever use mindspeech without warning first, at least not on an Astartes."

From: [identity profile] repeatsalvation.livejournal.com
Yet, there is no such thing as a perfect system of control. All systems, in their nature, are wheels. Their rules and regulations feed in to one another. And while that is noble, the fact remains that a wheel will, once in awhile, wear itself down. And when that occurs, the wheel will break.

This is not theoretical, but inevitable. No system of law can last forever, and one must prepare for the inevitable break by readying a new system, or additions to the old.

Tell me. Do you sincerely believe that this system is perfectly controlled everywhere in your universe?

From: [identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com
"No. We are the safeguard. If they are taken by Daemons within the warp, we bring an end as only Astartes can."

[he doesn't elaborate. He doesn't need to. The implication is clear enough.]

I see.

And do you enjoy what you do, or do you do it only because of necessity?

From: [identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com
"When dealing with the warp? No. There is no glory in that. Only the loss, and sorrow at humanity's diminishing."

[Wilhelm motions with his sandwich a bit.]

And to see that degradation is always the greatest sorrow of mans guardians.

[And he'll take a neat bite of his sandwich before putting it back down.]

Occasionally, loss is necessary though, is it not? And even then, loss can be regained, and re-compensated.

And while loss can be necessary... there is no way to salvage what happened before I came here."

No. You cannot.

But there is no such thing as a situation that cannot be overcome.

From: [identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com
"I know this. I am Astartes. As long as I draw breath, I am victorious."

[he nods.]

"For the moment, though, the situation that must be overcome is this place. I assume you are familiar with the town to some degree?"

From: [identity profile] repeatsalvation.livejournal.com
I am. I don't know if I can grant you much beyond what you may already know, but I can try and clarify something, if you have anything to ask.

From: [identity profile] lunawolves10th.livejournal.com
"Ah, I had not thought to do so, actually, I was more asking about the extent of your knowledge. I take it you have been here some time then?"

From: [identity profile] repeatsalvation.livejournal.com
I have been, for about nine months, at present.

Unfortunately, the extent of my knowledge isn't far greater the anyone elses' or what you've probably gathered up to this point. I could more easily expand or clarify if you tell me what you knew besides the basic such as the town warping in on itself, ect cetera.

If you're wondering if I might know something such as why we are here in Mayfield, that I cannot answer.

"The Hazmats. What do you know of them?"

[Space Marine through and through, Garviel concentrates on the obvious enemies.]
