There are three options for interacting with Wilhelm today.

A. Staring. STAAARIING.

[As you go about your business today, you might find Wilhelm as several of the places you go to. He might be sitting at a bench in the park, or reading in the library, or stopping to eat for lunch. And even if you never met him before...he might seem oddly familiar now. And if you have met him before, you have a hard time telling exactly how long you've known Wilhelm. Because for some reason, it now feels like you've known him longer then you should have.

And if he happens to notice you looking at him? He'll just look back. And smile.

You may not know him, but he definitely gives off the air that he knows you.]

B. Releasing his Inner Child

[Feel free to find Wilhelm sitting on the front step of his house. Considering some of the snow still remains, and he's yet to be given a new job by the town after losing his position in the library he must have some way to entertain himself.

There's a ball of snow rolling across the ground, as if moved by invisible fingers. And it continues to grow, and grow, and grow, until it reaches the proper size Wilhelm desires. And he continues to do this twice more, eventually stacking each ball on top of the other.

He's never made a snowman before. He must admit, it is moderately entertaining.

Occasionally, a drone passes by, and Wilhelm seems to immediately stiffen, to concentrate, the one eye he has remaining narrowing for a moment. And he does this until the drone leaves, and then the tension leaves his body. And he looks much more disappointed before he goes back to his previous work.]

C. Phone

For each person, there is said to be at least one, if not more, defining trait. And it is that trait, or that ability, or that belief, which makes us who we are. Which is our primary mode of defining ourselves. And sometimes, we do not realize just how much that trait defines us until it is stripped from us.

I'm curious. What are your defining traits, Mayfield? What is it that defines the essence of you?

[OOC: Wilhelm has regained his connection to the collective unconscious as his regain. For details of, and a permission post for, this power, see here: http://repeatsalvation.livejournal.com/7307.html]

Failing to make any move in what they've given us with the ballet will only hurt ourselves, in my opinion. It's better to make a move then to let the opportunity for one be wasted.

And yes. I voted myself.

It would seem this town has seen fit to yet again drone me. While having my will stripped away from me is always something I fail to relish, it would appear I missed whatever catastrophe that was deemed necessary to fall on us during my droning.

Anyone care to explain?

[Wilhelm wasn't initially aware there was anything off about the day until he noticed that his mattress had been covered in blood. That was the first sign he needed to show him that he'd be droned, as he could imagine what had happened. The second was seeing the days marked off on his calendar.

So he had been droned. How odd. He couldn't say he particularly remembered the experience, unfortunately. But he supposed he'd make up for lost time. You can find Wilhelm in the following situations.]

A. Wilhelm will just be walking around town at the moment, deciding to take an "off" day from work. He'd rather like to actually see the town. It's something he's somewhat neglected to do.
B. At the grocery store. Yet again, he seems to be trying to purchase something to make yet another attempt at cooking.
C. [Phone - Filtered from all the drones/Grady/The Mayor/ect.]

Quite an interesting piece of literature we've been given recently, isn't it? And, like all interesting - not great, but interesting - pieces of literature, it elicits discussion.

I'm curious as to what your theories are about the Neurological Emulation Construction. Specifically, I'm curious if anyone else believes it isn't believes it isn't referring to the town itself?

Death.

For how often we deal with it, I wonder how many truly understand it. I do not mean that as a statement of condescension, not for all of you, at least. But this town presents a rather tactless, if not incorrect, view and form of it.

For one, death is not a punishment. Death is merely another link in the cycle of creation, and attempts to use it or view it as a form of punishment are exceedingly faulty. And are, in fact, laughable. All things, in the end, die.

Secondly, death is not to be feared. When I say that, I do not mean caution should not be taken against dangerous situations. Nor do I mean there shouldn't be anxiety, or even some fear, when death is near. But to be overwhelmed by terror at the thought of it is to give in to an inexcusable tactic. Again, we all die. It is something we must come to accept.Which leads to the final point.

Death is not an ending. No one ever truly dies. Not just here, where they force us into the chains of mortal flesh again and again, but anywhere. Mankind is beyond merely a body. And there is more that waits after the body is shed.

Our captors demonstrate, in their use of violence and the way they view death and rebirth, that they're fools. Petty. Idiotic children babbling and threatening a concept they have no real understanding on.

Do not let yourselves be intimidate by them, or fear them. They are hardly deserving of fear. And you people are more fearsome then they are. Your wills shine so brightly.

Don't be broken by them.

[And the call ends. Wilhelm will now be looking around his house for Jr, Nall, and chaos (though he's already spoken with him once since respawning).]

[There's a slight rustling noise as the receiver is taken off the hook and apparently placed down. Then, the tapping of a few piano keys, as if attempting to test it. Then, after a few moments, he begins to play this piece. While he's able to keep it up for the most part, there's several times where he falters a bit, clearly out of practice. But he manages to get through the entire piece without many blunders.

There's silence for a moment before Wilhelm speaks.]

I suppose, all things considering, the season calls for appropriate music. And we could do with better music all around, then what is often played on the radio here or on television. I suppose I merely felt that music of better quality then what we're usually subjected to might be appreciated, even if it was hardly my best and there are those here I'm quite certain could play better.

For life without good music is pitiable, indeed.

[There’s a small sipping sound over the phone, and he clears his throat before beginning to recite.]

ExpandPoem is the Demiurge's Laugh, by Robert Frost )

[A pause then. When Wilhelm speaks again, there’s a small slur to his voice.]

Very often, we seem to lose sight of what we had been running after, had been trying to attain. And once we lose sight of it, we no longer control it to any degree, and it overtakes us. What we had thought we had been chasing turns false, even if we had known it to be false before.

How many here have chased their own “Demons”, attempted to catch their own goals, only to find that the goal had already been passed and lost, and taken a life of its own? A traitorous goal, that was no longer what you had wished it, but something else dressed in the cloth of that desire?

How many of you escaped, and how many overcome?

[Hey, members of Xenohaus. Feel free to see Wilhelm slightly slumping in his chair as he speaks on the phone, and a glass of wine and near empty bottle of it beside him.

Guess who decided to test and see what effects alcohol would have on his now-human body and what it would be like to be intoxicated?]

With how vulgarly it sounds like the town is preparing to play with the term, I am curious.

Tell me, Mayfield. What are your thoughts on love?
ubermensching: (Scheming)
It has come to my attention that there is some force currently at work that appears to be able to assert influence over some of our residents here. Specifically, it seems to instill a far greater tendency towards aggression then usual. Considering I have only been here a month, aside from the post office I have only heard of some of the "games" this town appears to play on its inhabitants.

I'm wondering, does anyone believe this might be another action initiated by the town? Has their been a precedent of the town manipulating emotions before, or of it only affecting a select few rather then all present? Has anyone else noticed this increase in aggression, or have I, perhaps, given in to man's tendency to....over-think, I believe, is the statement.

It can't be one of our own doing this, of course. I'd be surprised if anyone had that much power here. And if they did, I would be surprised if they were honestly foolish enough to inflict it upon people with no rhyme or reason.

Certainly none of us here are that foolish, are we?

[Later on, you can also find Wilhelm at the library. While it's technically his job, he appears to be perusing the books in an attempt to find something useful he may have overlooked, though he clearly finds this a hopeless endeavor. So maybe he's just slacking off.

Feel free to bother him regardless.]

Let us continue our discourse on temptation from earlier in this week.

Who do you believe is responsible for the loss of personal limbs or memories during the trade: the post office, or those who go to make the trade. Certainly, it is the post office and whoever is in control that takes, and yet these things could not have been taken without the consent of those trading. That you did not know what would be taken is, in part, irrelevant. You knew the cost would be high.

So who is truly responsible? The post office, those trading, or both?

[Hey, Jr, MOMO: feel free to notice that daddy is sitting at the kitchen table with an eye patch over his left eye, and a spinning globe in front of him. Looks like he managed to get a neat new toy, huh?]

[There’s amusement in his voice as he speaks the entire thing, mingled with his usual monotone.]

It is a simple fact that, in the face of temptation in order to gain power, most shall take it. It is something I have observed, time and time again, while watching your race grow and evolve. You could say that mankind has always been defined by their decision to take what tempts them, starting from when they chose temptation over paradise. It is a decision that has always intrigued me in my inability to comprehend why you would always take the seemingly shorter but always more costly path to power.

And yet-

I must admit, I am intrigued. And I have never been tempted before. It is an entirely new sensation, and I can see the outright pleasure that might come, if just briefly, from bowing to it, even if it means losing something personal.

So I’ve made a decision.

Time to eat of the forbidden fruit.

I will admit that it has been a long time since I bothered to set foot in an actual church, let alone needed to. I suppose I only did so today out of curiosity to see what something as willless as the drones would preach on. I was unsurprised to see the focus was on the book of the law, where God is proclaimed to be jealous in one verse and then loving a few verses later.

Tell me. What is your opinion on God? Not merely if you believe in him, but do you consider his existence something to care about? And if I were to give evidence to you that it did, indeed, exist, would that change your opinion at all?
ubermensching: (The Thinker)
[There's simply dead air for a moment as the phone comes off it's hook before the man begins talking. It's a slow, cold tone, although it seems to have a rhythm and beauty to it instead of being monotonous.]

Wife. Would you come in here for a moment?

[There's the small patter of footsteps as Wilhelm's drone wife enters the kitchen.]

Yes dear, what can I do for you?

Did you finish cleaning the front room as asked?

Certainly dear.

And the bedrooms? You've finished those as well?

I finished it up both of the times you asked, sweety.

Good.

[His voice takes on a more amused tone.]

Now sit.

[There's the sound of a chair screeching out on the floor as she sits down.]

Is there anything I could-

[There's a crashing sound as several plates hit the ground, shattering on the kitchen tiles.]

*a small gasp* Oh my goodness! Are you alright dear? I'm sorry, I shouldn't have stacked the clean dishes so close to the-

Clean it up. [No malice, simply interest, or a tone someone would take talking to a pet.]

Of course dear! Let me just go get the broom and dustpan.

[There's the small footsteps of the wife as she leaves the room. He goes back and picks up the phone.]

They're fascinatingly will-less creatures, aren't they? They rather remind me of something back home. Tell me, how do you view these "drones"? Do you still count them as human?
ubermensching: (Defiance)
[It was rare for him to feel anything similar to surprise, but he hadn't exactly expected to wake up in a strange bedroom surrounded by pictures of people he didn't recognize. It would be a surreal experience and feeling for anyone, but there were a few things that added to it for Wilhelm.

The first was that there was no reason for him to wake up. He never slept.

The second was that there was no person, galaxy-wide, in his reality he didn't recognize.

He simply picked up the picture and stared in wonder at it for a moment. What an altogether odd occurrence. ...Had something gone wrong during the struggle against Zarathustra? Had he hallucinated mankind's eventual victory entirely? He could identify the clothing as being common in 1950s America; had a bizarre temporal anomaly occurred. He felt lightheaded. He needed to-

He felt lightheaded. He dropped the picture.

He didn't experience physical feelings.

He tried to search, to see if he could connect with the Unconscious. Nothing. ..An entirely new dimension then? Or had just that much damage been dealt. With his usual means of gathering information cut off, he supposed he'd have to explore. Looking at the phone next to his bed stand, he said in a calm, collected voice.]

...How interesting. There isn't, perhaps, anyone who could explain to me as to how I got here, or why?

[OOC: Anyone who possesses psychic powers, or some form of magic that can detect mental waves or something, you're going to feel a short moment of extreme discomfort when Wilhelm first wakes up. Being the personification of the Collective Unconscious of his universe, imagine the sensation his entrance brings as feeling like you're swimming in the ocean, and feel something just impossibly massive moving underneath you. It's only there for a brief moment before it's gone, but it's clearly there.

Also, MOMO-mun and Rubedo-mun, since you have both been accepted, I've decided to start by making the first post of our group's cast. I hope you don't mind, and please inform me if you do.]
