[Wilhelm wasn't initially aware there was anything off about the day until he noticed that his mattress had been covered in blood. That was the first sign he needed to show him that he'd be droned, as he could imagine what had happened. The second was seeing the days marked off on his calendar.

So he had been droned. How odd. He couldn't say he particularly remembered the experience, unfortunately. But he supposed he'd make up for lost time. You can find Wilhelm in the following situations.]

A. Wilhelm will just be walking around town at the moment, deciding to take an "off" day from work. He'd rather like to actually see the town. It's something he's somewhat neglected to do.
B. At the grocery store. Yet again, he seems to be trying to purchase something to make yet another attempt at cooking.
C. [Phone - Filtered from all the drones/Grady/The Mayor/ect.]

Quite an interesting piece of literature we've been given recently, isn't it? And, like all interesting - not great, but interesting - pieces of literature, it elicits discussion.

I'm curious as to what your theories are about the Neurological Emulation Construction. Specifically, I'm curious if anyone else believes it isn't believes it isn't referring to the town itself?

[Theta is out for a walk. Despite the pain her knee gives her, she actually does that quite a bit. She spots Wilhelm and cringes, expecting him to still be droned. Then it occurs to her, he'd be at work if he was, so she walks towards him, though her speech is very tentative.]

It kind of makes me think of an EVS. But what do you think it's talking about if not the town?

It could be like it. At the moment, I'm simply pondering other theories. It would be dangerous to run with merely one theory here, as well as the fact that the NEC being simply the town seems too likely. Too bland. And if it was the whole story, I doubt they'd let something like this slip.

I believe the town, in part, is the NEC. However, it's one of two parts. The second part of the NEC is us.

I don't wish to spread panic, but I firmly believe that the drones, most likely, are the same as us. That is, their bodies are. The base drones we see could very well be "base" models without a personality imprinted on them.

That is to say, they're spares. We go in one, and when we "die" here, we get re-implanted on a new one of the spares.
